On Tuesday January 28th, the 1st Grade and the Boys in Grades 2 through 8 visited the Bedford Courthouse. We learned about the creation of the judicial system in the early days of the American republic led to a great extent by John Jay. Bedford was the location of one of two Courthouses in Westchester county, the other being in White Plains, and for many years Bedford was an important location for the administration of justice in the area. We visited the Museum above the courthouse and learned about life in pre-colonial and colonial times. We also saw the jail!
