On May 3rd we had a visit from Mr. Patrick Riley. Mr. Riley is an expert on the Shroud of Turin, the cloth that, according to many faithful Catholics, including Mr. Riley, covered Jesus’ body in the tomb at the moment of the Resurrection. He brought to school an official replica of the Shroud and he shared with us the fascinating history of the Shroud and the scientific studies that have been performed on it over the years. The Shroud has been in Turin, Italy since 1578 and has been the subject of many scientific investigations. More than 32,000 photographs have been taken of it. 6th-8th graders had a presentation on the subject in the science lab and were able to ask many questions.
