
On May 1st we celebrated the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker with traditional games and competitions, culminating in the Competition of the Bard when students perform recitals of poetry and song in three separate age group categories. On this occasion, Valerie Dyke won with her recitation of Ozymandias by Shelley. The best song in the 6th-8th Category was adjudged to be “How can I keep from singing” by the 6th-8th Grade girls. In the 3rd-5th Grade Category, Matthew Croke won with “I have a Rendez-Vous with Death” while the award for the best song went to the 3rd-5th Girls for their performance of “Eerie Canal”. In the lower age groups, Ambrose Pidel was awarded the prize for the best poem with his recital of “My Shadow”. The best song went to the Kindergarten class for their performance of “America the Beautiful”.
