Open House

Great energy filled the halls last week during Hawthorn’s first weekday Open House event.  Twelve families toured the Hawthorn School and had the opportunity to observe teachers and students in action.  Welcome remarks were delivered by Dr. McCleary and Mr. Hickman.  Kelly Andino and Tim McGovern spoke about the distinctive features of education for Girls and Boys at the school.  Hawthorn Parents Jared Paletti and Maddy Pidel spoke eloquently and candidly about the value of Hawthorn’s education for their children.  Families were then divided into four groups and toured various classrooms based on their particular area of interest at the school.  Students at all grade levels performed poetry and songs for visitors while also carrying on with their learning for the day, whether it be in Nature Study, Math, Language Arts, or Latin.  A special thank you to the generous parents who volunteered in the babysitting room, allowing prospective parents to tour the school with more focus.
