Festival for the Feast of the Annunciation

Hawthorn recently celebrated the Annunciation with our third festival day of the year. The celebration began with Mass, a discussion of the Annunciation, and a decade of the Rosary. Students then competed in athletic contests including relay races, dodgeball, and jump rope. We feasted, enjoying a pizza lunch, before competing in  the "Competition of the Bard." Students sang folk songs such as "De Camptown Races" and recited works like "The Road Not Taken" and "The Gettysburg Address." We closed the festivities with awards for the winners and chocolate chip cookies for all.
